NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forward Pickups January 26 - Frank Nazar Showing His Wares
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Jonathan Drouin, LW/RW, COL @ NYR (29% rostered)
Drouin continues to rack up points while skating on the first line in Colorado. He has a goal and five assists in his last four games for the Avalanche. Drouin has been skating with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, but with Rantanen now in Carolina, Martin Necas will join him on that trio. Following the trade, look for Colorado to rely even heavier on Drouin and MacKinnon, which bodes well for production for Drouin.
Matias Maccelli, UTAH @ OTT (2% rostered)
Maccelli posted 49 points in his first full season in the NHL in 2022-23 and upped that production to 57 points last season. He got off to a brutal start this season, nothcing just three goals and seven assists his first 37 games. Maccelli seems to have re-found his game lately, posting five tallies and a pair of his assists his last 10 contests. In addition, he remains on Utah's second line, which should aid him in remaining productive.
Yegor Sharangovich, C/LW/RW, CGY @ WPG (12% rostered)
Like Maccelli, Sharangovich had a career-best season in 2023-24, his first in Calgary. Sharangovich more than adapted nicely to his new settings, posting 31 goals and 28 assists in 82 games for the Flames. Also like Maccelli, 2024-25 did not start off well for Sharangovich, who had six tallies and five helpers his first 34 contests of the season. The 26-year-old forward has found his game lately while filling in at center for the injured Connor Zary, picking up four points, including three goals, over his last five games.
Frank Nazar, C, CHI vs. MIN (1% rostered)
Jump on the Nazar bandwagon now before it's too late. Friday, he posted his first multi-point effort while skating at right wing on Chicago's top line. Taken 13 overall in 2022, Nazar has now dented the scoresheet in three straight contests and is up to a pair of goals and five assists in 19 games. Ride the wave with Nazar while he skates with Connor Bedard and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Pavel Dorofeyev, LW/RW, LV vs. FLA (44% rostered)
Yes, I am profiling Dorofeyev again. As long as he continues to score and remains under 50% rostered, he will be included in the column. Dorofeyev, now 44% rostered, has only been held off the scoresheet on one occasion over his last seven outings, producing seven goals and three helpers during that stretch. For the season, Dorofeyev is up to 21 markers and 10 assists in 49 contests, exceeding his point total set in 47 contests last season, while skating on the second line.
