NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forward Pickups Dec 29 -Lysell Getting a Look in Boston

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Fabian Lysell, RW, BOS @ STL (0% rostered)

Lysell, the 21 overall pick in 2021, was promoted and made his NHL debut Saturday. He notched a helper in his maiden voyage in the league while skating on the third line. Lysell had five goals, 17 points and 22 PIM in 26 appearances for AHL Providence this season. His prospect status has dimmed slightly the last few seasons, but with Boston looking for some fresh blood, he received a call up and lineup spot Saturday.

Troy Terry, C/RW, ANA vs. EDM (22% rostered)

Terry notched his fourth goal in his last nine games Saturday in the Ducks' 3-1 loss to the Flyers. The tally was his 10th of the season, putting him halfway to his total from last season in just 34 games. Terry is up to 26 points as he continues to rebound from a so-so 2023-24 campaign. He is entrenched on the first line in Anaheim skating next to Frank Vatrano and Ryan Strome.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, C/RW, WSH @ DET (27% rostered)

PLD has more than settled in nicely in Washington after coming over from LA for Darcy Kuemper. The deal has worked out well for both sides. Dubois entered Saturday's contest having notched six assists in his last seven games, but just one goal. He is racking up apples, with 21 in 34 games but has lit the lamp just five times after notching 16 in a down campaign last season.

Kirby Dach, C, MTL @ TB (2% rostered)

Dach doubled his goal output for the season notching a pair of tallies Saturday. Including him in this column is based on the hope that Dach maybe ready to go on a run. I am not overly confident that it will be the case, especially against Tampa. but Montreal is desperate for secondary scoring and Dach still is centering the team's second line.

Simon Holmstrom, RW, NYI @ PIT (1% rostered)

Holmstrom, a first-round pick, 23 overall in 2019, is having a solid third season on the Island. Heading into Saturday's game, Holmstrom had a pair of goals and four assists his last five games, upping his season's marks to nine and 12 in 35 contests. Holmstrom has already set a new career-high in helpers and sits just six markers short of matching his total from last season. The shake up in line combinations for New York has Homstrom skating on the first trio.

Michael Bunting, LW, PIT vs, NYI (8% rostered)

I am a bit surprised at the rostered percentage for Bunting given how hot he has been. Bunting got off to a brutal start but his offense has really come around lately. He has 12 points (six goals, six assists) in his last 12 games, and five of those points have come on the man advantage. As evidence as to how cold his start was, the 12 points in 12 games upped his season totals to 19 in 36 contests, meaning - for those who hate math - Bunting has just seven points in his first 24 games played this season.

Brett Howden, C/LW, LV vs. CGY (5% rostered)

Every time it looks like Howden is about to take a step back offensively, he produces again. After posting a goal and an assist Friday, Howden has multiple points in three of his last four outings, and he's up to 14 goals, four assists, 57 shots on net, 63 hits, 30 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 35 appearances. Howden is on pace to shatter his career high of 23 points from his rookie year with the Rangers in 2018-19, making the five-year, $12.5 million contract extension he signed with the Golden Knights in November look even smarter for the team.

Evgenii Dadonov, RW, DAL @ CHI (0% rostered)

I had a hunch that Dadonov might score Friday and debated about including him in the column. I talked myself out of it and didn't include him. Dadonov burned me by scoring a goal while adding an assist, giving him two multi-point effort over the last four games. He has looked good skating with Wyatt Johnston and Jamie Benn, helping Dallas make up for the absence of Tyler Seguin (hip).

Taylor Hall, LW, CHI vs, DAL (4% rostered)

Hall's offense has picked up recently. His assist Friday extended his point streak to three, during which he has notched five helpers. That only tells part of the story, as Hall has earned four multi-point efforts with a total of five goals and eight apples over his last 15 appearances. Those 13 points in 15 games have helped to offset the six points he tallied the first 20 contests of the season.

Noah Cates, C, PHI @ LA (0% rostered)

Cates extended his goal-streak to five games Saturday. In addition, he's also found the scoresheet in all but one of his last eight appearances, tallying six goals and two assists in that span. As evidence as to just how slow his start was, Cates in only up to seven goals and six assists in 32 games with much of that production coming in those last eight contests. Cates is producing while centering Philly's third line.

Warren Foegele, LA vs. PHI (6% rostered)

Foegele contributed a goal and a pair of assists Saturday in the Kings' 4-3 overtime win over his former team, the Oilers. He now has three-multi-point effort in his last five contests and is up to 10 markers and 11 helpers in 35 games during his first season with Los Angeles. With 21 points, Foegele is halfway to exceeding the season-high 41 points he posted last season in his final campaign with Edmonton.
