NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forward Pickups January 27 - Frost White Hot for the Flyers
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Marco Kasper, C, DET vs. LA (2% rostered)
Kasper is playing somewhat over his skis right now, seeing time as the first line right winger. He projects to be a future third line center but has excelled since being moved up and over. Kasper has put up eight points, including five goals, in his last nine games (15 shots), giving him 15 points in 44 games for the season. Roll with Kasper while he skates with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
Morgan Frost, C, PHI vs. NJ (7% rostered)
Frost saw his five-game point streak earlier this month end with two scoreless contests but he rebounded to tally an assist Thursday. He now has eight points in 12 January games and is up to 25 points, 82 shots on net, 35 hits, 36 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating over 46 appearances. Frost is unlikely to match his career-high of 46 points in 2023-24 or 41 points tallied last season, but a hot second half could get him close.
Jake Neighbours, LW/RW, STL vs. VAN (17% rostered)
Neighbours has had a very up-and-down campaign. After posting Cy Young like numbers last season - 27 goals and 11 assists - he has 13 goals and the same number of helpers as 2023-24 in 50 contests. Neighbours has not been the threat he was in 2023-24 but continues to log top-six minutes and power-play time, which puts him in a position to potentially succeed.
Kaapo Kakko, RW, SEA @ EDM (16% rostered)
Needless to say, Kakko likes the Pacific Northwest. His assist Saturday gave the former second overall pick in 2019, 14 points in 17 contests for Seattle, matching his output from 30 games with the Rangers earlier in the campaign. Kakko has meshed well with Matty Beniers, who has had a resurgence ever since the winger joined the Kraken. Ride the wave while Kakko is hot.
Fabian Zetterlund, LW/RW, SJ vs. PIT (22% rostered)
Zetterlund just quietly continues to produce. He has gotten on the scoresheet in four straight games (two goals, two assists), upping his season marks to 14 tallies and 18 helpers in 52 contests. Zetterlund exploded for 24 goals and 20 assists last season and has a strong chance of exceeding both numbers. He benefits from skating on the Sharks' top line with Macklin Celebrini.
