NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Player Pickups Nov. 23 - Cirelli Stays Hot, Drouin Warming Up
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Forwards
Kiefer Sherwood, LW/RW, VAN at OTT (35% rostered)
The Canucks are slumping but they're working hard, and Sherwood's played a big part in providing that spark. The NHL hits leader has worked himself into a top-six role next to Elias Pettersson, and he's up to 16 minutes per game after averaging less than 13 minutes a game in October. The Sens can be a feisty team, too, so you can bet Sherwood will draw a ton of attention. Sherwood's the best source of hits in fantasy and the scoring bump is a huge bonus.
Will Cuylle, LW, NYR at EDM (33% rostered)
Cuylle's been one of the biggest risers in fantasy. Think of him as a Sherwood-lite; dishing out tons of hits and scoring goals at a surprising rate. Cuylle's up to seven goals and 15 points in 18 games this season, but where he pales in comparison to Sherwood is the lack of shot volume and fewer minutes. In multi-category leagues, Cuylle is a very valuable asset.
Sean Monahan, C, CLB vs. CAR (30% rostered)
Monahan remains a centerpiece of the Jackets offense, and as dominant as the Canes may be, they're still prone to some defensive lapses and bad goaltending sometimes. Monahan's coming off a four-point game and he has scored eight points in his past four games overall.
Anthony Cirelli, C, TB vs. DAL (29% rostered)
The return of Brayden Point has not even damped Cirelli's recent hot streak one bit. Perhaps things will change as Point gets up to speed, but it's interesting the Lightning have kept Cirelli with Nikita Kucherov on the top line. Cirelli's responded with a four-game goal streak and played at least 20 minutes for seven straight games.
Jonathan Drouin, LW, COL at FLA (21% rostered)
If Drouin can find his scoring touch, his fantasy value will skyrocket in a hurry. The big reason will be because he's playing with Nathan MacKinnon and/or Mikko Rantanen, and indeed he's expected to play with MacKinnon on L1 and both of them on PP1. Drouin has two assists in his past two games.
Morgan Frost, C, PHI vs. CHI (2% rostered)
Frost is expected to dress after being a healthy scratch for three straight games, and it's worth noting that Frost has always responded well when he's benched. John Tortorella echoed a similar sentiment, and expect Frost to play a top-six role with PP minutes. Obviously, his leash may be short, but this should be an easy opponent and the Flyers have actually played quite well despite the losses.
Torts says that Morgan Frost almost certainly will return to the lineup tomorrow, barring some sort of IR/injury jam. He said he's excited to see how he'll respond.

Jackson Blake, RW, CAR at CLB (1% rostered)
We shall see if the re-worked lines hold, but note Blake took shifts on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Jack Roslovic. Blake is a boom-or-bust power-play merchant, but if he's getting regular minutes with Aho, he's in line to see a huge boost in fantasy value. The Jackets can score but they also get scored on a lot, and the Canes offense has been a silky smooth machine for much of the season. If you're looking for goals in a deep league, consider rolling the dice with Blake.
New lines:
Blake-Aho-Roslovic
Svechnikov-Kotkaniemi-Necas
Martinook-Staal-Carrier

Defensemen
Emil Andrae, D, PHI vs. CHI (1% rostered)
Andrae has been practicing without restrictions, which brings a lot of optimism that he will be return to the lineup on Saturday. Prior to his injury, Andrae provided much-needed offense from their blue line, though he faces stiff competition for minutes on the power play against Egor Zamula and Cam York. Even without scoring points, though, Andrae has proven that he can fill other categories including shots, hits and blocks.
Honorable mention:
Stefan Noesen, LW/RW, NJ at WSH (48% rostered)
Tyler Seguin, C/RW, DAL at TB (43% rostered)
Casey Mittelstadt, C, COL at FLA (38% rostered)
William Karlsson, C, VEG at MON (36% rostered)
Josh Norris, C, OTT vs. VAN (32% rostered)
Conor Garland, RW, VAN at OTT (28% rostered)
Kirill Marchenko, RW, CLB at CAR (26% rostered)
Pierre-Luc Dubois, C, WSH vs. NJ (22% rostered)
Yegor Sharangovich, C/RW, CGY vs. MIN (19% rostered)
Yegor Chinakhov, LW/RW, CLB at CAR (16% rostered)
