NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups January 20 - Lohrei On a Roll for the B's
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Mason Lohrei, BOS vs, SJ (2% rostered)
Lohrei had a pair of helpers for the second time in three games. He now has a goal and four assists his last last four contests, giving the second-year blueliner, two tallies and 17 apples in 42 games. Lohrei posted four markers and 13 assists in 41 games as a rookie, bouncing in-and-out of the lineup. This year, he is a stalwart on the second pair, seeing 18+ minutes of ice time a game.
Cam Fowler, STL @ LV (32% rostered)
Fowler continues to produce for the Blues, as he is up to four goals and eight assists in 16 games in the Arch City. His presence has given St. Louis a true top pairing, as Fowler is skating with Colton Parayko, who is having a brilliant campaign. Fowler is seeing 22+ minutes a game while blocking almost two shots per contest. Roll with Fowler as he is making a major difference for St. Louis.
Jaccob Slavin, CAR @ CHI (13% rostered)
Slavin has points in two straight and has earned five points over nine outings in January. He is not known for his scoring, but is contributing offensively for the Hurricanes. Despite his solid month, Slavin only has 15 points in 46 contests after posting 37 in 81 games last season. The addition of Shayne Gostisbehere and improved play recently of Brent Burns has adversely impacted Slavin's numbers.
Brandt Clarke, LA vs. PIT (51% rostered)
Clarke's offense has dipped with the rest of the Kings' scoring in January -- he has just two assists over six games this month after finishing December with five assists over seven contests, including in three straight to end the month. Drew Doughty, out after ankle surgery, resumed skating in late-December, so he should be an options around the 4 Nations Cup. Clarke has a few more weeks as the primary option on the LA blueline, look for him to make the most of it.
