NFL world reacts to Steve McMichael's emotional Hall of Fame enshrinement
Chicago Bears legend Steve "Mongo" McMichael has officially been shrined among the NFL's greatest in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
McMichael, who has been battling ALS over the past few years, was unable to attend Saturday's ceremony in Canton, Ohio. So they brought the Hall of Fame to him and his house in Chicago, which included McMichael wearing his gold jacket and the official unveiling of his Hall of Fame bust.
It made for an emotional moment as McMichael was surrounded by his wife Misty, family, friends and his former teammates, including Hall of Famers Richard Dent, Mike Singletary and Jim Covert. Jarrett Payton, son of Bears great Walter Payton, presented McMichael for enshrinement into the Hall of Fame.

McMichael spent 13 seasons with the Bears and won Super Bowl XX in the 1985 season. He was a two-time first-team All-Pro, three-time second-team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler. McMichael's 92.5 career sacks rank second in franchise history, behind only Richard Dent (124.5).
Here's how the NFL world is reacting to the touching moment as Mongo officially joins his brothers in football heaven:
“Mongo! Mongo! Mongo!”, the crowd chants here in Canton. #Bears

Steve McMichael’s Hall of Fame induction… man… what a moment
Heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Glad he got to see the day of his induction amidst his battle with ALS. Love seeing Richard Dent there by his side. 💙🧡— Steve Helwick (@s_helwick) August 3, 2024

Powerful scene when Steve McMichael's Hall of Fame bust is unveiled for him back at his home in Chicago. Former Bears teammates are there at the bed of McMichael, who is suffering from ALS and can no longer talk.

Impossible not to feel emotional watching the scene in Homer Glen.
Steve McMichael made it into the Hall of Fame, and he lived to see Enshrinement Day. Thank goodness. 🙏🏻#Bears— Mike Berman (@MikeBermanNBC) August 3, 2024

#Mongo Steve McMichael is a Hall of Famer. It's about time and there wasn't a seated fan or a dry eye in the house. That was the moment of the trip. #Bears #HallofFame pic.twitter.com/zpL8bOJbhQ
