NFL world reacts to the Bears hiring Ben Johnson as head coach

The Chicago Bears landed their top head coaching candidate. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bears are finalizing a deal to make Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson their next head coach. Johnson, the top candidate in the last two coaching cycles, is set to take charge of the Bears with quarterback Caleb Williams at the helm.

The 38-year-old had been tied to the Bears job for quite some time and was always at the top of their radar. He excelled in Detroit with a top-five offense while resurrecting Jared Goff's career. While he was offensive coordinator, Detroit compiled a record of 36-15 and won the NFC North two years in a row with a balanced attack and some trickery mixed in.

Johnson now takes his talents to Chicago, where the Bears haven't finished a season above .500 since 2018. Armed with talent on both sides of the ball, though, the hope is Johnson will get the most out of this team and bring them back to relevancy.

We won't know how Johnson does until the team takes the field again in the fall, but fans and the NFL world are ecstatic over the news.
