NFL world reacts to Bears hiring Declan Doyle as offensive coordinator

The Chicago Bears’ coaching staff is starting to take shape as the team has reportedly hired both their offensive and defensive coordinators. After it was announced Chicago was hiring former Saints head coach Dennis Allen as their defensive coordinator, news broke that the Bears are hiring Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator under Ben Johnson.

Most recently, Doyle, 28, spent the 2024 season as the Denver Broncos tight ends coach and is considered to be one of the young rising coaches in football. Interestingly enough, both Allen and Doyle had coached with current Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell while the three of them were on the Saints coaching staff in New Orleans.

As you can imagine, there was plenty of reaction to a somewhat surprising hire. There are plenty of Bears fans nervous about such a young coordinator, but the fact that he's highly-regarded by Sean Payton certainly eases the nerves a tad.
