Yahoo Sports NFL world reacts to Bears hiring Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator
The Chicago Bears made their biggest coordinator hire just days after Ben Johnson was introduced as their new head coach, hiring Dennis Allen to be their next defensive coordinator.
The former New Orleans Saints head coach and defensive coordinator had been the leading candidate in the rumor mill immediately following Johnson’s hiring, bringing a credible and lengthy resume to Johnson’s coaching staff.
Allen has been a respected defensive coordinator in the league, and he now inherits a Bears defense with some impressive talent. Allen's previous head coaching experience will also help first-time head coach Ben Johnson as he transitions to his new role.
There was plenty of reaction to Allen's hiring, which included plenty of excitement from Bears fans as they land a proven defensive coordinator that can let Johnson focus primarily on developing quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense.
