NFL Star Joe Burrow Bought the $3 Million Batmobile ‘Tumbler’ Replica

Sometimes a Ferrari or Lamborghini simply isn’t enough.

Just ask Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. On the latest episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks, the young NFL star was caught on tape bragging to teammates about the latest addition to his car collection: the “Tumbler” Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

During a scene from the show’s new AFC North in-season series, Burrow can be seen talking to wide receivers Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase when he makes the big reveal. “Have I told you I bought a Batmobile. … I don’t get it for like a year, but I bought it,” he tells his teammates at practice.

Anyone familiar with Burrow knows he’s not the most demonstrative of personalities—there’s a reason he’s called “Joe Cool” after all—but he allows himself to have some fun with the news. “What if I wore it to every game? I just wore the full Batsuit, the Batmobile, to every game. I’d go crazy on Halloween,” he jokes to Chase.

The clip suggests that Burrow was overjoyed when Warner Bros. Discovery announced in October that they would build ten replicas. The fully functional beast measures 183 inches long, 111 inches wide, and 60 inches tall, according to The Drive. It’s powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 Chevrolet V-8 that makes over 500 hp, but is unlikely to be anywhere as fast as the car from the movie thanks to its 5,500-pound curb weight. Unfortunately—or fortunately if you’re a Bengals fan—it lacks the movie car’s weapons and deployable Batcycle. It’s not street-legal either but it will give Luca Doncic’s Apocalypse Hellfire 6×6 a run for the most ridiculous vehicle owned by a professional athlete.

Replica or not, the new Batmobile doesn’t come cheap. Warner is asking $2.99 million. Of course, Burrow signed a record $275 million contract extension with the Bengals last fall. Thanks to that deal, which is the second biggest in NFL history, the quarterback will make just shy of $30 million this season (and over $68 million in the final year of the contract, according to Sportrac.) Burrow might have paid a lot for his Batmobile, but he can afford it.
