What’s next for Aaron Rodgers? Jets brass addresses QB’s future
The offseason is here for 30 of the NFL's 32 teams. That can only mean one thing – Aaron Rodgers is back in the headlines.
Will the New York Jets keep the 41-year-old quarterback or is he hanging up the cleats? Or is he going to call a new NFL city home in 2025? So many questions, such few answers.
Anyone looking for clarity wasn't given much on Monday when the Jets introduced their new head coach, Aaron Glenn, and general manger, Darren Mougey.
Here's a look at what they said regarding Rodgers' future.

What did Aaron Glenn say about Aaron Rodgers?
Glenn was careful to avoid anything definitive on the topic of Rodgers, answering questions like a seasoned veteran on Day 1.
"This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers," Glenn said after the press conference. "This is about the roster. And we plan on building the best roster we can."

The Jets' new brass elected to defer on that matter all day long.
"Aaron Rodgers will be talked about," Glenn said in his opening statement. "We've already texted that communication with Aaron Rodgers. And as we continue to look at the roster, we'll make decisions accordingly. And that's with a number of people on the team."
When asked what the process will look like, Glenn again chose to sidestep the question.
"[Mougey] is going to sit and talk and just go over the whole roster," Glenn said. "That's going to be the answer to a number of questions when it comes to the roster in general. We're looking forward to that process. I can't tell you how long that process will be. But the thing is, we're going to make sure we get the right answer."

Despite repeated attempts from reporters to get Glenn to commit, he wasn't falling for the bait.
"You're going to continue asking me the same question, I'm going to give you the same answer," Glenn said. "We're still in evaluation mode. For anyone else that going to ask that, I'm going to give you the same answer. So don't waste your time."
Rephrasing the question didn't do much better.
"A winner," Glenn added when asked what he looks for in a quarterback. "Mental and physical toughness."
He also wouldn't fall into the trap of being compared to Bill Parcells when discussing what to look for from the quarterback spot.
"That's Parcells, I'm Aaron Glenn," he said.

What did Darren Mougey say about Aaron Rodgers?
Mougey took a back seat to Glenn at Monday's press conference. He was notably asked just one question in the Q&A portion of the event, but did have the chance to elaborate on some topics afterwards with the media.
Like Glenn though, the new general manager didn't offer up any information on Rodgers' future.
"Aaron has his process, we want to respect that," Mougey told SNY. "I've got so much respect for Aaron and what he's done as a player in this league. And we'll have our process. I landed less than 24 hours ago. I was struggling to find my office this morning so we've got a lot to do, but we look forward to that and it'll come at some time."

What did Woody Johnson say about Aaron Rodgers?
While Glenn and Mougey didn't have much to say on the topic, the expectation was that Johnson would. The Jets owner has never been shy in these situations, but he struck a new chord on Monday.
"I'm going to leave that to them," Johnson said, referring to Glenn and Mougey. "They've got to take a look at how the team's composed and what they think they need and put all that together."

While rumors and reports have swirled about Johnson's desire to move on from Rodgers, the owner says he'd welcome him back.
"Absolutely," Johnson said. "If they want him back, Aaron [Glenn] said it, Aaron's a talent for sure. He's a Hall of Famer."
"I'm not going to voice my opinion on that," Johnson said, when asked if he would weigh in on the decision with his new regime.
Will Aaron Rodgers retire?
Like everything else with Rodgers, whether he will retire or not remains a mystery.
The quarterback is taking time to determine his future, but has expressed that the organization's decision will play a factor.
"I just need some time away to think about my future in the game and my future here, if they want me to be part of the next phase or if they're ready to move on," Rodgers said after the Jets season finale. "Either way, I'm thankful for my two years here."
The images of him in the team's final game seemed to indicate that retirement was a very real possibility. It remains to be seen if that will become reality.
Will the Jets release Aaron Rodgers?
It's unclear whether the Jets would release Rodgers. However, a decision to do so would come at a high cost, depending on the timing, according to OverTheCap.
If the Jets release Rodgers before June 1, 2025, New York will carry $74.5 million in dead money on the salary cap. If they release him after June 1, 2025, that number goes down to $4.5 million.
The quarterback is set to enter the final year of his contract, which carries a $23.5 million cap hit for 2025.
