Newcastle 1-1 West Ham LIVE! Wilson, Paqueta goals - Premier League result, match stream, latest updates today

Newcastle vs West Ham LIVE!

Newcastle made a dream start at St James Park but were pegged back and then held back as West Ham earned a deserved point this evening. Callum Wilson put his team in front after three minutes, shortly after Joe Willock had a goal disallowed for the hosts, and the Hammers recovered to level just past the half hour mark through Lucas Paqueta.

Newcastle dominated the second half but could find no way through West Ham's defence as they drew for the fourth time in five Premier League matches to extend their unbeaten league run to 16. Wilson had a glorious chance to win but his free header but fluffed his lines late on

Newcastle are on 40 points from 21 games, two points behind Manchester United who beat Crystal Palace earlier in the day. West Ham are on 19 points from 21 games, one point above the relegation zone. Read the game back below with our dedicated match blog.

Newcastle are very frustrated.

He smirks as he's booked for diving. That's atrocious.

46min: There’s the whistle!

17:59 , Alex Young

28min: West Ham’s best move of the game as Antonio and Rice work the ball across the pitch for Benrahma to cut inside, but the shot is hide and wide.

17:55 , Alex Young

24min: Heart-in-mouth time for Fabianski as again West Ham’s defence is statuesque to let Schar nip in and lob the keeper, but the ball spins over.

17:51 , Alex Young

20min: Newcastle pinging the ball around well, with West Ham chasing shadows a tad. Saint-Maximin is found on the left to float a ball towards the back post, but it’s cleared.

Newcastle go again.

17:47 , Alex Young

17:43 , Alex Young

12min: Smart play by Trippier down the right, exchanging passes with Willock before chipping the ball into the area for Almiron, who gets a touch but can’t bring it down.

Here come the teams.

Almost time

West Ham are looking to maintain momentum and keep themselves clear of the Premier League drop zone with a statement win this afternoon.

"The win against Derby was a boost and the clean sheet was good. We got a great win against Everton and want to build on it," said Moyes.

"We have a good side, but we have not shown it as much as we should have done. We are getting closer to the business end of the season and the last few games have given us something to talk about."

He added: "Winning is always the key. I would like performances to improve, but at the moment we have to pick up points. Hopefully we are moving in the right direction."

Saint-Maximin returns

16:44 , Alex Young

Allan Saint-Maximin was handed a first Premier League start since August as Carabao Cup finalists Newcastle attempted to cement their place among the top three against West Ham.

The Frenchman replaced the suspended Bruno Guimaraes in the only change to the side which started Tuesday night's semi-final, second-leg victory over Southampton, while there was a seat on the bench for new signing Anthony Gordon, but not for Alexander Isak as a result of concussion protocols.

West Ham team news

West Ham will assess Danny Ings' knee injury ahead of the game. It is not a serious problem though and the striker is now in a race to prove his fitness.

With Gianluca Scamacca definitely out and David Moyes unlikely to risk Ings from the start, Michail Antonio looks set to lead the line once again after scoring against Derby. Kurt Zouma and Maxwel Cornet also remain unavailable.
