Newcastle United Urged to Pursue Barcelona, PSG’s €75M-Rated Target
Loïc Tanzi from L’Équipe reported this week that Paris Saint-Germain are among several clubs interested in Viktor Gyökeres for a potential transfer in the summer of 2025. Sporting advisor Luís Campos has reportedly already been in touch with Gyökeres’ representatives.
According to Le Parisien, Gyökeres is no longer on PSG’s radar. Manager Luis Enrique is reportedly concerned about the high transfer fee, which is estimated between €75 million and €100 million. Within the club, there’s a sense that this price tag poses significant risks.
Meanwhile, the Swedish forward has attracted interest from Barcelona. A Bola reports that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has already started discussions with Sporting Lisbon about a potential move for Gyökeres.
Newcastle United urged to pursue Viktor Gyökeres
Alan Shearer has urged Newcastle to “target the best,” specifically recommending Viktor Gyökeres as a top option.
Alexander Isak scored 21 league goals last season, ranking him among the top three scorers in the league, but his future with the club is uncertain with interest from Arsenal and other top clubs. Even if Isak stays, Shearer believes the club needs a quality backup and suggests Gyökeres as one of the best choices available right now.
“I would definitely be targeting a center-forward, a right-sided forward and probably a center-half. Those are the three priority positions,” Shearer told The Athletic. “I’m biased, but those forward roles feel like the most important where there is little cover for Alexander Isak.
“Who exactly? It depends on how much Newcastle can spend. There’s Viktor Gyokeres smashing goals in left, right and centre at Sporting Lisbon. Manchester United have appointed Ruben Amorim, but he says he won’t be signing players from his former club in January. You have to target the best — and he [Gyokeres] is the best option at the moment.”
This season, Gyökeres has scored 23 goals while recording four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
