Newcastle United have completed the signing of former Sunderland goalkeeper Claudia Moan on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies this afternoon.

Moan joins Newcastle United upon the expiry of her contract at former club Sunderland.

The 25-year-old is one of the best goalkeepers outside of the Barclays Women’s Super League. Moan was the Barclays Women’s Championship’s Golden Glove winner in 2023/2024 after keeping 10 clean sheets in 22 matches. She was also the league’s Player of the Season.

Moan spent five years with former club Sunderland. She joined the club’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) before going on to star for the first team. Her move to Tyneside will be a tough one to take for fans of The Lady Black Cats.

After signing for Newcastle United, Moan said “I am delighted to be joining Newcastle United, who have shown in the past two seasons that they are a very ambitious club.

“The set up at the club is fantastic which is something I know will help me settle in very quickly.

“I will give everything I possibly can to the team and the fans, who I know give incredible support to
the club. I can’t wait to get started next week.”

Moan becomes Newcastle United’s fourth summer signing.
