Newcastle United and adidas relaunch iconic 1995-97 home shirt
The iconic shirt - worn by the likes of Alan Shearer, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand and Philippe Albert as Kevin Keegan's exciting Magpies side took the Premier League by storm 30 years ago - is one of United's most popular jerseys of all time, and fans can now purchase the new remake.
Relaunched in conjunction with the club's official kit partner adidas, who reunited with United last year having previously supplied the Magpies' official kit and training wear between 1995 and 2010, the remake will invoke fond memories of Keegan's 'Entertainers' side, with its bold black and white stripes, button-up collar and oval Newcastle Brown Ale sponsor logo emblazoned on the front. It is also available with original 'Shearer 9' or 'Ginola 14' name and number printing in retro font.
Newcastle United finished as Premier League runners-up in both the 1995/96 and 1996/97 season, winning admirers for their swashbuckling, attractive and attacking style of play - as well as their equally stylish home shirt, which has become one of the most celebrated and universally-loved kits of the era.
And three decades after Keegan’s team debuted the top, Eddie Howe's first team squad wore the relaunched shirt as they arrived at the Emirates Stadium for Tuesday night's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win against Arsenal.
Supporters can now purchase the relaunched 1995-97 home shirt (limited to four units per customer), as well as the rest of the club's adidas playing and trainingwear range, at shop.newcastleunited.com.
