Newcastle cruise past Girona in latest pre-season friendly đź“ť
Newcastle welcomed Girona to St. James’ Park on Friday and ended the night happier after a 4-0 victory.
Scorers: Longstaff 3′, 45′; Murphy 14′, Gordon 15′
It was one-way traffic as Eddie Howe’s men let the goals fly against their LaLiga opponents in front of home fans.
Sean Longstaff’s late run into the box and strong left-footed finish saw Newcastle open the scoring in the blink of an eye.
Jacob Murphy scored again in pre-season when he was left unmarked in the box and subsequently volleyed home beyond goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Anthony Gordon joined the action with a smart run and cool finish for 3-0 after only 15 minutes. Longstaff’s second of the night from close range then put the game out of reach despite an entire second half to come.

Alexander Isak will be frustrated not to get his name on the scoresheet after the ex-Tottenham goalkeeper denied him from the penalty spot.

Seventeen-year-old Trevan Sanusi also fell short of a fifth for Newcastle but will have impressed Howe with his performance while John Ruddy earned his debut mid-way through the game.
Up next is a match against Brest on Saturday.
