“I never said anything wrong” – Julian Alvarez responds to Pep Guardiola’s latest comments on his Manchester City future

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has responded to Pep Guardiola’s latest comments during a recent press conference, as the player’s future remains uncertain.

The Etihad Stadium head coach was quizzed on Alvarez’s opening comments on his Manchester City future amid growing uncertainty over whether he will remain in Sky Blue for the forthcoming season, with intensifying interest from Atletico Madrid.

The 24-year-old stated that whilst he was aware of his top-level minutes for the club last season, he felt as though he should have featured in some of the more important matches and it was disappointing to have been left out by his coach given his goalscoring output.

Alvarez continued by revealing that he will think about his club future once the Olympic Games are completed in Paris this summer, to which Pep Guardiola responded during his own press conference on Monday night, “I know he wants to play in important moments, but the other players too.

“We have 18 or 19 players who want to play in the important games. I read he has to think about it, so OK, think about it and after that he will inform us what he wants to do.”

Now, speaking to TV Publica after Argentina’s 0-2 victory over Ukraine at the Olympic Games on Tuesday afternoon, Julian Alvarez was asked whether he had heard Pep Guardiola’s latest response to his initial comments on his Manchester City future.

“Yes, I heard (what Pep Guardiola said). I don’t have much to say,” Alvarez said. “I never said anything wrong. I’ve always said that I’m very happy, very comfortable (at Manchester City).”

He continued, “It was just an analysis of last season, and a projection of what might come next. That was all.

“That’s what I meant when I talked about thinking about it, like I do every year, like we always do. So that’s all.”

This is a developing story. More to follow.
