‘They never fail’ – Pep Guardiola hails Barcelona with praise for 5 youngsters

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has moved to reiterate his admiration for the academy setup at former club Barcelona.

As much comes as Guardiola prepares to lead his troops into a meeting with the Blaugrana this week.

As part of their respective pre-season tours of the USA, City and Barca will do battle in the early hours of Wednesday, in a friendly clash in Orlando, Florida.

The matchup, of course, will come as a special one for the former’s manager, with Guardiola having made his name as a player and tactician alike whilst on the books at the Camp Nou.

Speaking in a press conference in the lead-up to tomorrow’s fixture, a whole host of topics surrounding his ex-employers, as a result, were put to the Spaniard himself.

And one such question gave rise to a response which has since turned heads back in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes with Guardiola having made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on the famed La Masia academy, highlighting some of the latest breakthrough Barcelona talents in the process:

“La Masia never fails. This generation, I don’t know what their mothers and fathers gave them, but they can take care of themselves. Lamine, Gavi, Pedri, Cubarsí, Balde… they are the base of Barcelona.”
