Nelly Korda has said that the USA have “unfinished business” as they look to prevent Europe from continuing their Solheim Cup stronghold.

The United States have not won the trophy since 2017, with Korda’s singles defeat to Carlota Ciganda allowing the Europeans to retain their crown 12 months ago.

Stacy Lewis again captains the hosts in Virginia and will hope for a strong performance from Korda, who enjoyed an outstanding first half of 2024.

The world No 1 is yet to taste victory at the Solheim Cup, though, a run she hopes ends at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club this weekend.

“Whenever you get to wear the red, white, and blue and stars and stripes, there’s a different meaning to it,” said Korda ahead of the start of the event.

“You’re playing not just for yourself, but for your captains, for your team-mates and your country, and there’s just nothing like it. We have got some unfinished business.

“Obviously I haven’t been on the winning side, but every experience I’ve had in the Solheim Cups has been an amazing one.”

Korda’s record at the event is strong with seven victories from her 12 matches, the best winning percentage of any player in the US selection.

Lilia Vu, Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson are among the other stars in a strong squad skippered by Lewis, who could look to partner Korda with Allisen Corpuz.

The pair won both their foursome matches in Spain last year and will likely be united again when Lewis names her opening duos for Friday.

“I think it’s something super-exciting too and refreshing to have a team-mate, have team-mates and captains and people to lean on when you normally don’t,” Korda added.

“There’s nothing like it. There’s nothing like walking on to that first tee and feeling all those nerves. We have a great group of girls. We have a great group of guys. We have a great captain. We have really great assistant captains. Hopefully it all falls into place and we play some really good golf for the fans out here this week.”
