NCAA president Mark Emmert gets Kansas' name wrong during championship trophy presentation

Trophy presentation gaffes are officially a thing this Final Four season.

On Sunday, ESPN's Holly Rowe called Most Outstanding Player Aliyah Boston by the wrong name after South Carolina's win in the women's national championship. On Monday, NCAA president Mark Emmert got the name of the men's championship team wrong.

After Kansas rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to beat North Carolina and claim its fourth NCAA championship, Emmert was tasked with announcing the trophy presentation before head coach Bill Self took control of the hardware. Emmert got Self's name right. But Jayhawks faithful will surely take issue with what came next.

"Here to present the trophy is the head of the basketball committee Tom Burnett to coach Self and the Kansas City Jayhawks," Emmert said.

Emmert immediately realized his error to correctly call them the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

But the damage was done. This is sure to rile up some folks in Lawrence and those in Missouri who call Kansas City home. Especially the Mizzou grads.

For the Jayhawks players and coaches as they celebrate a national championship over longtime tournament rival North Carolina? Here's guessing that they couldn't care less.
