NCAA baseball super regionals: Matchups, schedule, times and TV for 2023 tournament

After a weekend full of standout performances and shocking upsets, 16 teams remain in the road to Omaha, Nebraska, as the super regionals of the NCAA baseball tournament kick off this weekend, with spots in the Men's College World Series on the line.

Leading the way was No. 1 Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons put on a dominating effort in the regional, in hopes of becoming the first No. 1 seed since 2018 to advance to Omaha.

But not every national seed was safe, with seven of 16 seeded teams eliminated, including two teams − No. 11 Oklahoma State No. 13 Auburn − not winning any games during the tournament. History was also made as a No. 4 regional seed − that is, the lowest seed in a four-team region − advanced to the super regionals for the eighth time ever.

Here is everything you need to know for the NCAA baseball super regionals this weekend, with series beginning Friday or Saturday (all game times are ET):

No. 1 Wake Forest vs. No. 16 Alabama

At Winston-Salem, North Carolina

  • Game 1: Wake Forest 5, Alabama 4

  • Game 2: Wake Forest 22, Alabama 5

∎ Wake Forest advances to Men's College World Series

How Wake Forest made it to the super regionals: The Demon Deacon offense exploded for 48 runs in the regional, cruising in three wins as the top seed. Wake Forest defeated George Mason 12-0, Maryland 21-6 and George Mason again 15-1 to advance.

How Alabama made it to the super regionals: The Crimson Tide swept through its regional, beating each team to advance. Alabama defeated Nicholls 4-3, Troy 8-3 and Boston College 8-0 to make the super regional. Alabama will be playing in its first super regional since 2010.

No. 8 Stanford vs. Texas

At Palo Alto, California

  • Game 1: Texas 7, Stanford 5

∎ Stanford advances to Men's College World Series

How Stanford made it to the super regionals: The Cardinal avoided elimination after falling into the losers bracket of their own regional. After an opening 13-2 win over San Jose State, Stanford fell to Texas A&M 8-5. Needing to win out, Stanford beat Cal State Fullerton 6-5, avenged its loss to the Aggies with a 13-5 victory and won the winner-take-all game over Texas A&M 7-1 to advance.

How Texas made it to the super regionals: Texas dominated the Coral-Gables (Florida) regional, which included back-to-back wins over the hosts, Miami. Texas beat Louisiana 4-2, beat Miami 4-1 and used a nine-run third inning Sunday to beat the Hurricanes again 10-6 to advance to its third straight super regional.

∎ LSU advances to Men's College World Series

How LSU made it to the super regionals: The Tigers offense proved to be the difference maker in the Baton Rogue regional, as LSU swept its way to another super regional appearance. The Tigers defeated Cinderella-team Tulane 7-2, took down Oregon State 6-5 before beating the Beavers again 13-7 Monday.

How Kentucky made it to the super regionals: Another team that fell into the losers bracket, Kentucky finished its weekend with three wins in two days to advance to its second super regional in team history. The Wildcats opened with a 4-0 win over Ball State then lost to Indiana 5-3. Kentucky rebounded with a 10-0 win over West Virginia, and got revenge on the Hoosiers with a 16-6 win and 4-2 win to advance.

Southern Mississippi vs. Tennessee

At Hattiesburg, Mississippi

  • Game 1: Southern Mississippi 5, Tennessee 3

  • Game 2: Tennessee 8, Southern Mississippi 4

  • Game 3: Tennessee 5, Southern Mississippi 0

∎ Tennessee advances to Men's College World Series

How Southern Mississippi made it to the super regionals: Southern Mississippi advanced the hard away, fighting off elimination for four straight games after dropping their opening game against Samford 4-2. The Golden Eagles stunned No. 13 Auburn 7-2, avenged their first loss and beat Samford 9-4 to advance to the regional final. Southern Mississippi's offense then went on a run against Pennsylvania, winning 11-2 and then 11-7 to advance to its third super regional.

How Tennessee made it to the super regionals: Not hosting a regional proved to be no problem for the Volunteers as they swept their way through the Clemson regional. Tennessee opened with a win against Charlotte 8-1, beat No. 4 seed Clemson 6-5 and beat Charlotte again 9-2 to secure its third straight super regional appearance.

No. 2 Florida vs. No. 15 South Carolina

At Gainesville, Florida

  • Game 1: Florida 5, South Carolina 4

  • Game 2: Florida 4, South Carolina 0

∎ Florida advances to Men's College World Series

How Florida made it to the super regionals: Florida had to stave off elimination to make it out of the Gainesville regional. After an opening 3-0 victory against Florida A&M, the Gators fell to Texas Tech 5-4. In the losers bracket, Florida righted the ship by defeating Connecticut 8-2. Needing two victories over Texas Tech, Florida dominated the Red Raiders with wins of 7-1 and 6-0 to avoid elimination.

How South Carolina made it to the super regionals: South Carolina's offense was the story of the Columbia (South Carolina) regional, outscoring opponents 41-11. The Gamecocks blew out Central Connecticut State 19-1, defeated N.C. State 6-3 and had another offensive outburst against Campbell 16-7 to advance.

No. 7 Virginia vs. Duke

At Charlottesville, Virginia

  • Game 1: Duke 5, Virginia 4

  • Game 2: Virginia 14, Duke 4

  • Game 3: Virginia 12, Duke 2

∎ Virginia advances to Men's College World Series

How Virginia made it to the super regionals: The Cavaliers used a strong pitching performance from the weekend, allowing three runs in 27 innings en route to a regional sweep. Virginia knocked off Army 15-1, East Carolina 2-1 and in another matchup against East Carolina, had a late comeback to win 8-3.

How Duke made it to the super regionals: Playing close to home, Duke won the Conway (South Carolina) regional to make its third super regional since 2018. The Blue Devils beat UNC-Wilmington 12-3 and Rider 2-1 to advance to the regional final. Duke lost the first game against host Coastal Carolina 8-6 but dominated the winner-take-all game 12-3 to advance.

Oregon vs. Oral Roberts

At Eugene, Oregon

  • Game 1: Oregon 9, Oral Roberts 8

  • Game 2: Oral Roberts 8, Oregon 7

  • Game 3: Oral Roberts 11, Oregon 6

∎ Oral Roberts advances to Men's College World Series

How Oregon made it to the super regionals: Oregon's hot streak continued, as the Pac-12 Tournament champions swept the Nashville regional to advance to its first super regional in over 10 years. Oregon beat Xavier 5-4, No. 6 Vanderbilt 8-7 and Xavier again 11-2 to advance.

How Oral Roberts made it to the super regionals: The hottest team in Division I pulled off the shocker of the regional, becoming the eighth No. 4 regional seed in history to advance to a super regional. The Golden Eagles opened the tournament with a win over No. 11 Oklahoma State 6-4, won a wild one over Washington 15-12 and edged Dallas Baptist 6-5. Oral Roberts is on a 21-game winning streak, the longest in the nation.

No. 14 Indiana State vs. TCU

At Fort Worth, Texas

  • Game 1: TCU 4, Indiana State 1

∎ TCU advances to Men's College World Series

How Indiana State made it to the super regionals: The dream season for the Sycamores continues, as Indiana State advanced to its first super regional in program history after sweeping the Terre Haute (Indiana) regional. The Sycamores beat Wright State 6-5, Iowa 7-4 and Iowa again 11-8.

How TCU made it to the super regionals: The Horned Frogs offense couldn't be stopped in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as TCU scored double-digit runs in each game for a total of 44. TCU beat Arizona 12-4, blew out host Arkansas 20-5 and beat the Razorbacks again 12-4 to win the regional.

∎ The super regional was moved to Fort Worth because of prior commitments in Terre Haute, including the Indiana Special Olympics.

When is the Men's College World Series?

The Men's College World Series, made up of the eight super regional winners, will start Friday, June 16 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. The best-of-three championship round will take place June 24-26.
