Kathryn Tappen on Jeremy Roenick's comments: 'What he said was unacceptable'

Former NHL star Jeremy Roenick was suspended indefinitely without pay by NBC Sports on Monday for comments he made about co-workers Kathryn Tappen, Anson Carter and Patrick Sharp while a guest on Barstool Sports’ Spittin’ Chiclets podcast.

Tappen released a brief statement via NBC Sports PR on Tuesday regarding the things Roenick talked about.

“While Jeremy and I continue to be good friends, what he said was unacceptable, especially among workplace colleagues,” she said via NBC Sports PR, according to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal. “I do not condone his comments.”

Roenick made a series of inappropriate remarks about his co-workers at NBC while on the Dec. 19 episode of the popular hockey podcast that stars former NHLers Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette. At one point, he described a vacation he took with Tappen and his wife to Portugal where on multiple occasions people asked if the three of them were together and he described joking with them about engaging in group sex.

“I play it off like we’re all going to bed together every night, the three of us. If it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it’s never going to happen.” Roenick said, per Sports Business Daily.

Roenick hasn’t commented publicly since his suspension, nor has NBC released any information about when — or if — he will return.

The 49-year-old played 20 seasons in the NHL and has been an analyst for NBC Sports since 2010.
