NBA Twitter reacts to NBA’s memo on Damian Lillard’s trade request: ‘Are they gonna send out one about James Harden now?’
According to Shams Charania, the NBA has sent a memo Friday to all 30 teams about Damian Lillard’s trade request and the stance that he only wants to play in Miami.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the news.
The NBA only has an issue with Damian Lillard requesting a trade because it’s to the Miami Heat.
If Lillard requested a New York or Los Angeles team, there would be nothing but praise and celebration.
It’s so embarrassing to watch and I can’t wait to see the league angrier.

Damian Lillard, welcome to the Portland Trail Blazers.

So many players have done this (AD to Lakers, PG to Clippers, KD to Suns). When teams trade players to sorry franchises it’s business but if a player uses leverage he is the bad guy. It’s business, the team is doing what’s best for them and the player is doing the same.

Idk why all the sudden the league is acting like Damian Lillard & his agent are doing something that no other player in NBA history has done before: Star player requesting a trade & letting it be known where he wants to play & being upset if he doesn't land there? Seriously?!

Translation: Damian Lillard will be a blazer to start the season. https://t.co/IVFQOAuNEg

So in short…the NBA is saying:
“Every team…feel free to trade for Damian Lillard and HE WILL PLAY for whichever franchise he is traded to. If he, or his agent, insinuate that they will ONLY play for the Miami Heat then the NBA will HEAVILY penalized both Dame and his agent.” https://t.co/a5Mqxb4iLK

When Damian Lillard finally gets traded to the Miami Heat, I guarantee that all of the commotion since July 1st will make it even sweeter.
I doubt anyone else will give serious offers so it will be good when it is finally complete.

Now it comes down to what teams are willing to trade for Damian Lillard, and I still don’t see another team he makes any sense for

If you think this memo has any tangible impact on the Damian Lillard trade market you are much less cynical than I. But clearly the league wants agents of star players to do their bullying in private not in public.

Disregarding the possibility that Joe Cronin has told Dame he'd trade him where he wants if he ever wanted out – Cronin did his best to push Damian Lillard to the point where he demands a trade, and then has done absolutely nothing. I don't think that should impress anyone. https://t.co/DJRqpEarYW

I’m gonna laugh so hard when Damian Lillard enters the Hall of Fame as a member of the Miami Heat.

The NBA’s warning to Damian Lillard and his agent changes little.
Any team not named the Miami Heat that trades for Lillard would acquire an unhappy player.
Trading away major assets to pay $216 million over 4 years to a 33-year-old disgruntled star would be franchise suicide.

Where's the Memo on Harden wanting to play only for the Clippers? Lol… This clearly came from Portland's side… They did it with Walton, with Drexler, and now with Lillard… This org always ruined their relationship with their players.

Are they gonna send out a memo about James Harden now?
The league has never done this before but of course because it’s Miami it happens now
