NBA GMs say this Dallas Maverick’s player is the best point guard in the NBA

NBA.com released its annual survey of general managers where they ask executives questions about the best players and teams in the NBA.

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic was a constant topic of discussion, being chosen as the best point guard in the NBA on the survey securing 37% of the votes edging out Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgous Alexander, Stephen Curry and Jalen Brunson who earned 30%, 23% and 10% of the vote.

Doncic’s versatility as a player was lauded as he was in fifth-place for the league’s best shooting guard and was tied as the top vote-getter for the best all-around small forward while being the only player to be top five in all three categories.

He was the survey’s third choice for who they would want to take the final shot with the game on the line, IQ in basketball and the second choice for both best foreign player and passer to the Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Newly acquired shooting guard Klay Thompson also made an appearance in the survey as the fifth pick for the most underrated signing of the offseason and received votes for being the best shooter in the NBA.

Executives are high on the Mavs offense with 7% believing they will have the league’s most efficient offense.

Kyrie Irving was chosen as the fastest player with the ball in his hands in the league with 3% of the vote.

However, 7% of executives said the Mavs were the toughest team to predict how well they do this season.

Those executives will get a chance to watch the Mavs when they continue with their preseason schedule at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday against the Utah Jazz at American Airlines Center.
