Nathan MacKinnon’s MVP Season May Impact the Canadiens

Nathan MacKinnon is on an MVP pace so far this season. He has 64 points in 39 games. I’m not surprised, I had a chance to see him in action when he was with Halifax and honestly, I’ve always known he could be an all-time great. The Canadiens have to key on him.

MacKinnon doesn’t kill the Canadiens with just goals against. He has seven goals in 17 games. His nine assists are bad news as well. It’s easier said than done trying to contain him but honestly, that’s their best chance of winning.

MacKinnon’s speed through the neutral zone is elite. The Canadiens have to try and slow him down. If they can disrupt that then his playmaking gets lessened to some extent. He gets pumped up playing Montreal so that’s why he’s the player to watch.

Cale Makar is the next biggest threat so keeping the Avalanche off the power play would be advised. They have the 10th-best power play. Mikko Rantanen, and Devon Toews are the reasons for that too. Again, MacKinnon is going to be very dangerous.

MacKinnon has two game-winning goals against the Canadiens in his career. He has 306 power-play goals in his career but only three this season. Rantanen is the big threat to score, with some assists by MacKinnon. The big Finn has seven power-play goals this season. So there is no real escape.

MacKinnon is fun to watch and the game should have some exciting elements, and it is must-see t.v.
