Nate Burleson believes Bears finally have their guy in Caleb Williams
Despite having a below .500 record, a wild first 12 games of the season in which both the offensive coordinator and head coach have been fired, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has shown signs of greatness for the Chicago Bears.
Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, recently set the NFL rookie record for most passing attempts without an interception, and in the loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, set the franchise record for rookie passing touchdowns, which he now has 14 of this year.
Given all the turmoil, Williams has thrown for 2,612 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, while currently riding a six-game streak in which he has not thrown an interception. Even though they'll be conducting a search for a new head coach this offseason, some around the league, like CBS analyst Nate Burleson, believe the Bears found their franchise quarterback in Williams.
During Sunday's "The NFL Today" on CBS, Burleson sang the praises of the Bears rookie quarterback.
"Listen, in most cases, this type of chaos surrounding a rookie could shatter this rookie's confidence, but that's not what's happening. Caleb Williams is showing up and doing the best that he can," Burelson said.
He added: "What we have seen are glimpses of greatness, the Bears, they have their guy. Moving forward, if you get consistency and put that around him, instead of chaos you will get the best version of Caleb Williams."

The general consensus around the Bears franchise is that they have maybe, just maybe, finally found their long-term answer at the quarterback position, but everything else around him needs to situated. Finding the right coach to pair with Williams will be of the utmost importance for the Bears and their foreseeable future.
