Napoli prepare official bid for Chelsea midfielder

Napoli are preparing an official bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei this month.

Antonio Conte is keen to raid his former team and bring Casadei back to Serie A in the January transfer window. The 21-year-old has struggled for first-team football since signing for Chelsea from Inter Milan for an initial fee of €15m in 2022.

Conte, who was head coach of Inter when Casadei came through the ranks, is keen on a reunion with the player as he looks to strengthen his title-chasing team.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Napoli are now preparing an official offer for Casadei. Chelsea are prepared to sanction his sale this month but will demand a sell-on clause is inserted in any deal. The West Londoners have also received enquiries from Feyenoord, Torino and two unnamed English clubs.

Casadei has made just 17 senior appearances for Chelsea and has spent time on loan at Reading and Leicester City during his time at Stamford Bridge. An Italian international at youth level, he won the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards when representing his nation at the 2023 u-20 World Cup.

Napoli are the current leaders in the Serie A title race, three points ahead of Atalanta having played a game more.
