Nantes considering move for Valencia’s loanee Maximiliano Caufriez
According to a report from L’Équipe, FC Nantes are interested in exploring a deal for Clermont Foot’s Maximiliano Caufriez (27). However, the deal does present some complications for the Ligue 1 side.
Over the summer, Caufriez was loaned out to Valencia CF from the Ligue 2 side. However, the La Liga side who find themselves mired in a relegation battle with only three wins from 20 games would be willing to allow the defender to leave.
Caufriez has been used sparingly during his time in Spain. He has featured only once all season when he started in the 1-1 draw with Getafe. The flexible defender who can play as a centre-back or as a left-back is stuck between a bench role and not being included in the squad.
Nantes working on alternatives to Maxmilliano Caufriez
L’Équipe reports that the problem for Nantes is that they would have to pay the defender’s entire salary which is thought to be too high for the club. The French outlet writes that the transfer is not yet over, but Nantes are working on other targets.
