A Nampa bar owner had ‘excuses for everything.’ Now this reality show ‘confronts’ him

Another local Idaho business will get a national beatdown — er, dose of “tough love” — this weekend.

“Bar Rescue” visits Nampa for an episode that premieres Sunday night at 8 p.m. (On DirecTV. If you have a different provider, you’ll want to confirm the time.)

In-your-face host Jon Taffer struts into Firehouse Sports Pub, 423 E. Karcher Road. The plot line, titled “Put This Fire Out,” is typical fare for the reality show (or “semi-reality,” as Google lists it). It thrives on melodrama: “Jon tries to save a firehouse-themed bar outside of Boise, Idaho and confronts an owner with excuses for everything.”

“Bar Rescue” visited the Boise area last year. Filming took place at multiple businesses. The episodes have rolled out on Paramount Network recently.

And while things went poorly for one Treasure Valley bar, things turned out positively at others.

It seems probable that this latest beer-soaked soap opera also will end in smiles.

For one thing, Firehouse Sports Pub rebranded itself Dave’s Firehouse — A Local’s Bar.

Plus, the welcoming hangout is hosting a “Bar Rescue” watch party that begins at 7 p.m. “Join us with our closest friends and family to watch the premiere of our episode,” the bar posted on Facebook. The event will include a whiskey sampling and a Q&A with the owner.
