N’Golo Kanté breaks Barcelona legend Xavi’s all-time record in France’s win over Belgium
Barcelona legend Xavi has on Monday seen a long-standing personal record broken, by a leading member of the French midfield ranks.
The player in question? N’Golo Kanté.
Kanté, for his part, was of course back in action a short time ago.
As much came as France locked horns with Belgium, in the Last-16 of the European Championships.
The former Chelsea man went on to play a starring role for his country, who ultimately emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 1-0 result.
And, as alluded to above, in the process, midfielder Kanté secured for himself an altogether noteworthy piece of history.
Prior to Monday, the player with the most appearances without suffering a single defeat in the history of the Euros was the aforementioned Xavi.
The Barcelona icon took to the pitch on 11 occasions in the tournament, without a single loss on his record.
Kanté, though, has now managed as much 12 times, ahead of an upcoming quarter-final showdown with one of Portugal, or Slovenia.
N’Golo Kanté has now played more European Championship games without losing than any player in the competition’s history, breaking Xavi’s record.
