Mynio & Canada Defeat Sansonnens & Switzerland In 2025 World Juniors Pre-Tournament Action

Two Vancouver Canucks defensive prospects went head to head in 2025 World Junior pre-tournament action, as Sawyer Mynio and Team Canada defeated Basile Sansonnens and Team Switzerland 7-1. This was the first pre-tournament game for both teams, with the 2025 World Juniors getting started on December 26, 2024. Canada dominated play for the majority of the game, outshooting Switzerland 40-15, which included a 17-5 advantage in the second period.

For Team Canada, Mynio was partnered with Philadelphia Flyers prospect Oliver Bonk for this game. The duo was listed as Team Canada's second pairing and played well together. Mynio is projected to play a key role for the Canadians, not just at even strength but also on the penalty kill.

Sansonnes was listed on Switzerland's third line, playing beside Johnson Ludvig. While Switzerland still has to make some roster cuts, Sansonnes is projected to be on the team this year. He has played this season in the QMJHL with the Rimouski Océanic, recording three points in 25 games.

Team Canada's next pre-tournament game is scheduled for December 21 against Sweden. As for Switzerland, they will take on Latvia on December 23. Team Canada's game against Sweden can be viewed on TSN, with puck drop scheduled for 4:00 pm PT.
