Musician Sabrina Carpenter Reps Custom Bedazzled Maple Leafs Jersey at Toronto Concert Wednesday
It’s not uncommon for musicians to pay homage to local sports teams while performing, and Sabrina Carpenter was no exception during her Wednesday night concert at Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs. When performing her hit song, ‘Espresso,’ Carpenter donned a custom bedazzled Leafs jersey, complete with her last name and the glittering number 24 on the back.

This concert marked the third stop of her ‘Short N’ Sweet’ tour, which kicked off in August and will run until March of 2025. Interestingly, the number is worn by Leafs forward Connor Dewar, but it’s believed that Carpenter chose it to signify the year 2024 and its connection to her tour.
During the performance, she came up to surface level holding a mug labeled ‘Toronto,’ presumably filled with espresso, unveiling the customized jersey to the fans’ delight.

Carpenter wasn’t the only artist to reference the Leafs at a concert this summer. Rapper ‘50 Cent’ stirred up some controversy at his Boston show in July by taking the stage in a Leafs hat, trolling the fans of the Bruins. Obviously, this was a clear jab at the fanbase, given the storied rivalry between the two franchises.

Over the next six months, Carpenter will be traveling across the United States and parts of Canada for her tour, including stops at TD Garden in Boston and the Bell Centre in Montreal in October. It will be intriguing to see if she sports any other NHL team apparel, potentially representing the Bruins or Canadiens among the other potential cities of 29 teams she could encounter.
