Mulgrew takes first manager's job at Kelty Hearts

Former Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew is taking his first steps in senior management with Kelty Hearts.

The former Celtic, Aberdeen, Blackburn Rovers and Dundee United player, 38, takes over from Michael Tidser, who has moved on to Dunfermline Athletic.

Mulgrew, who had been in charge of Hamilton Academical's under-18s, earned 44 caps between 2012 and 2019 and won five league titles during his time at Celtic.

He will be assisted at New Central Park by Mark Kerr, 42, who ended a 41-game spell as player-manager of Ayr United in 2021.

Kelty Hearts sit third in League One, with sporting director Craig Reynolds saying Mulgrew and Kerr "both fit the model of the club perfectly".
