Moyes could replace Martin at Southampton, he’d be perfect right now
Southampton dropped to the bottom of the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday.
Having picked up only four points from 11 games, the situation has become tricky for the Saints regarding the position of their manager, Russell Martin.
The Saints would feel they were hard done by poor referring decisions, but that would hardly change the fact that they have been terribly poor since returning to the top tier of English football.
Reports emerged last week that Martin could be under serious pressure to keep his job if Southampton lose to Wolves.
While the Saints are hopeful that Martin will be able to turn the situation around, Serbian billionaire owner Dragan Solak has grown impatient with poor results.
He retains the support of sporting director Rasmus Ankersen, but the club could make a decision on him during the international break.
David Moyes is keen to return to management
The veteran manager is reportedly keen to return to management, and Southampton are considering him as an option.
Moyes, who was seen on The Overlap podcast last week, is currently out of a job after parting ways with West Ham United at the end of last season.
The Saints have lost nine of their 11 games so far with a goal difference of -14, which is the worst in the Premier League, and there are hardly any signs that can convince anyone that Martin can take the club forward.
Moyes would be perfect for Southampton
The 61-year-old has loads of Premier League League experience following spells with Everton, Manchester United and West Ham,
He steadied the ship at West Ham and made them a strong Premier League side once again.
The Scotsman led the Hammers to Europa Conference League glory in 2023, which shows that, given time and money, he can do great things.
At the moment, Southampton need an experienced manager. They need a few wins, and it doesn’t matter if they get three points by playing ugly.
With Moyes, it’s like a ‘been there and done that’ situation, and he will be perfect for the club if they appoint him.
