Fenerbahce sit second in the Turkish league table but are already six points below leaders Galatasaray. Furthermore, they lost the Istanbul derby against Ciro Immobile’s Besiktas on Saturday.

Mourinho was sacked by Roma less than a year ago.

The Special One had six months left in his contract at the Stadio Olimpico when the Giallorossi fired him in mid-January and hired Daniele De Rossi to replace him.

The 61-year-old signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahce in June.
