Milan directors and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are under fire following Paulo Fonseca’s sacking and the methods used last night after a 1-1 draw against Roma.

Milan directors and RedBird advisor Ibrahimovic are under fire after the decision to sack Fonseca on Sunday.

The Portuguese coach was apparently informed about the club’s decision after his round of post-match interviews last night.

Even during his post-match press conference, attended by Football Italia, Fonseca insisted he was unaware of his dismissal. However, all the most reliable Italian sources already reported that Sergio Conceiçao had been chosen as a replacement starting December 30.

Sky Sport Italia pundits blamed Milan executives during a post-match show last night, not for Fonseca’s sacking itself, but mainly for how they handled the situation.

Michele Padovano, a former Juventus striker, even said: “They don’t know how to be directors.”

Nobody from the club spoke to the media last night, even though reports of Fonseca’s sacking had emerged from multiple reliable sources during the second half of Milan-Roma.

Practically, Fonseca faced post-match questions from reporters who already knew the coach would be sacked while the Portuguese was apparently unaware of the club’s decision.

Sky Sport pundits, including Beppe Bergomi and Luca Marchegiani, argued that a club representative should have explained the decision last night rather than leaving Fonseca alone in an embarrassing situation.

Milan ultras already criticised club executives and owner Gerry Cardinale during the Roma game last night.

Conceiçao is expected to sign a six-month contract with an option for a further campaign today.
