The most Premier League penalties scored without ever missing
Cole Palmer is closing in on another Premier League record after a stunning individual performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Brighton.
Palmer scored all four goals in Chelsea’s win at Stamford Bridge, becoming the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in a game before half-time.
After opening the scoring with a neat finish from Nicolas Jackson’s cut-back, Palmer struck his second from the penalty spot. The 22-year-old took over penalty duties at Chelsea last season following his arrival from Manchester City and boasts a flawless record from 12 yards for the Blues.
Palmer has now scored 10/10 penalties in the Premier League, a 100% record. He sits second for the most penalties ever scored in the Premier League without missing one, with only former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure (11/11) having netted more with a perfect success rate.
Palmer will hope to match – and beat – Toure’s record in the near future, though the last player to come close to the Ivorian squandered the chance to level the record. Ivan Toney scored his first 10 penalties as a Premier League player but missed his 11th, when Newcastle’s Nick Pope saved from the Brentford striker.
Fulham forward Raul Jimenez entered the top five for penalties scored without missing this weekend after netting his eighth in the Cottagers’ 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
The most Premier League penalties scored without ever missing:
Yaya Toure – 11
Cole Palmer – 10
Dimitar Berbatov – 9
Raúl Jiménez – 8
Ruben Neves – 8
