The Acadie-Bathurst Titan and league commissioner Mario Cecchini held a press conference this morning confirming the team's sale and relocation to St. John's, Newfoundland for the 2025-26 season.

The team was sold to a trio of investors, John Harvey Patten, John R. Steele and Jason Sharpe. The official figure has not been made public yet, however RDS' Stephane Leroux believe it was for a sum more than $5.5 million.

John Harvey Patten made his money with Browning Harvey, a Newfoundland-based Pepsi bottling plant. He's also involved with shipping company A. Harvey & Company Ltd, Harvey's Oil and plastics company Trans-Atlantic Preforms.

John R. Steele was the President of Newfoundland Capital Communications, which owned 72 radio stations through across Canada -- which sold to Montreal-based Stingray Music Group for $524 million in 2018. He also runs a chain of hotel businesses in Newfoundland.

Lastly, Jason Sharpe is the owner of Steers Insurance Ltd.

At the press conference the former shareholders of the Titan made it known that the team was losing $1.0 million per season.

From a press release of the conference, Mario Cecchini noted that he remained true to his promise last January when the team was originally put up for sale that the league would target investors who would keep the team in Bathurst.

"However, none of the interested groups had any intention of operating the team in Bathurst in the medium term," Cecchini said. "My heart goes out to the Titan fans. I sympathize and understand their pain and frustration."

The new owners of the team will hold a press conference alongside Cecchini in the New Year.
