More Is Coming For Rangers As ‘Tensions Boiling Inside The Locker Room’
The New York Rangers are officially a dumpster fire.
From winning the Presidents’ Trophy to this downright depressing season, we are witnessing one of the most drastic collapses in NHL history.
It was all highlighted in the New York Post’s Larry Brooks’ column ‘Rangers have quit on Peter Laviolette — and it will eventually cost him his job’ where one statement really stood out among the rest of this in-depth piece.
“The Rangers have quit on their coach, they have quit on the organization, they have quit on themselves, they have quit on each other, they have quit on the fans who pay top dollar to fill the Garden and they have quit on New York,” Brooks wrote.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman feels that this column carries a ton of weight as he comes to the conclusion that the Rangers may be in store for a massive overhaul.

“Either we haven't seen anything yet, or more of that is coming,” Friedman said. “To me the biggest story of that column is more is coming. And you kind of got to sit there and figure out what that is.”
Is Peter Laviolette to blame for the team’s epic collapse?
In his column, Brooks highlighted that whether it’s Laviolette’s fault or not, his tenure may very well be coming to an end sooner than originally expected.
“Laviolette, in his second season of a three-year contract, led the Rangers to success last year,” Brooks wrote. “But now, with tensions boiling inside the locker room and players seemingly unmotivated, it appears his time is running out.”
Friedman echoed the same sentiment that Laviolette has simply been caught in the crossfire of a disastrous and toxic situation.
“Laviolette, he is kind of caught in the middle of all of this,” Friedman said. “He’s been around a long time and he knows that this is a result-driven business, but Peter Laviolette has to be sitting here thinking just like the rest of us, what on earth happened? How did we end up where we are. And I’m sure he is at as much of a loss for words as everybody else is.”
The Rangers have lost 14 out of their last 18 games. There is no end in sight for this nightmare in New York.
This sort of downfall from a team that has so much talent is unfathomable and shocking to put it lightly.
Another rebuild is on the horizon for the Blueshirts unless they can suddenly revive their season, and that seems highly unlikely.
