Montreal speed skater pleads for return of stolen medals

A Montreal speed skater is calling on the public to help recover some medals stolen from his parents' east-end home.

Christopher Fiola, who represents Canada on the World Cup circuit, says his parents left for the weekend and returned to find the house in shambles.

Fiola, 20, says thieves took a number of pricey items, including his parents' wedding rings, electronics and his medals from the World Junior Championships.

He said the medals meant a lot to him.

Fiola came back from breaking both his legs in 2012, to win three silver medals earlier this year in China.

"I can look back and say, I earned that," he said.

Fiola, who is hoping to represent Canada in the 2018 Winter Olympics, is asking anyone who comes across the medals to get in touch.
