According to a report from L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi, Montpellier have opened discussions with Olympique de Marseille over a loan move for defender Bamo Meïté (23). Ligue 1’s bottom side are trying to recruit at a cut price in the winter transfer window as they try and claw themselves from the abyss.

MHSC’s leadership have opened discussions with Marseille over a loan for the player, which won’t necessarily be for free for the the Hérault-based side. Negotiations have continued into today and have been ongoing in the last few hours. The 23-year-old defender is in need of game time after only playing three matches this season under Roberto De Zerbi.

It follows an ongoing pattern over the last week or so, that OM are looking to move on some players to trim the playing squad. 20-year-old François Mughe has joined Athens Kallithea on a loan move with an option to buy, with moves for youngsters Enzo Sternal and Roggerio Nyakossi also in the works.
