Montembeault's New Bucket Is Fantastic
Goaltenders have the opportunity to express themselves on the ice not just by their play but also by wearing masks depicting things or people that matter to them. For his latest bucket, Montreal Canadiens' netminder Samuel Montembeault collaborated with airbrush artist Jordon Bourgeault.
If the name sounds familiar, it may be because Bourgeault was the one who painted one of Carey Price's most spectacular mask back in 2021. Interestingly, that mask, just like Montembeault's new one featured a cyborg.
This new opus from Bourgeault features modernized version of past masks worn by former legendary Canadiens netminders Jacques Plante, Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy. It also features the year of the last Stanley Cup win, the year of the Canadiens' creation and of course that quote from In Flanders Field.
I think the best way to make you appreciate the masterpiece that is the new mask is to let the artist tell you about it.
