The Kraken's 2022-2023 home opener introduced their new mascot, Buoy, and a new organist, Benny Drawbars. The Seattle-based EDM band ODESZA collaborated with the Kraken to create an arena hype video featuring their song "Loyal," which played as two large Kraken flags dropped from the rafters. While the music and video were award-worthy, the initial flag rally fell a bit flat and was somewhat underwhelming. However, the production team regrouped and devised a more traditional approach, with the audience passing a large Kraken flag across the lower bowl of the arena.

Band members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight began creating their unique electronic sound while studying at the University of Washington and hinted on their socials about a Kraken collaboration before Climate Pledge Arena opened. The Grammy-nominated duo used footage filmed during the band’s three-night, sold-out home shows in the summer of 2022 for the "Hoist the Colors" video.

Fans seem to enjoy the Kraken's newest tradition, and we won’t know until the season starts whether they’ve introduced a new flag design. But if you want to see the full 2-minute "Hoist the Colors" video, you’ll have to attend a game this season.
