AS Monaco appear to have won the race for one of the breakout stars of this year’s Euros, with L’Équipe reporting that the Principality have reached an agreement with FC Metz for Georges Mikautadze (23).

After a successful Euros with Georgia which only ended after a Round of 16 defeat to finalists Spain, interest had been high in Mikautadze with clubs like West Ham thought to have tested the waters for the forward

However, it had been reported ahead of the ongoing competition that the Georgian international had agreed personal terms with Monaco, and that an agreement in principle had been reached with Metz. However, at that point, no formal offer had been sent by Monaco to the Ligue 2 side.

Monaco look to secure Georges Mikautadze

It was confirmed to Get French Football News in an interview with Monaco CEO, Thiago Scuro that positive conversations were still ongoing between the clubs, “We expect to find a way to achieve Metz’s expectations.” Those “expectations” have now been met with L’Équipe stating that Metz have accepted a bid of €25 million for Mikautadze.
