It has been a difficult week for AS Monaco, who conceded a late double against Benfica and then suffered a similar fate against Olympique de Marseille at the Vélodrome.

Ahead at half-time, Luis Henrique levelled the scores early in the second half before Mason Greenwood netted a late penalty to give Marseille all three points, allowing them to leapfrog Monaco into second on goal difference. For Adi Hütter, the result was not necessarily a fair reflection of the match.

“We didn’t deserve this defeat. When I look at the entire game, we deserved a point minimum. At this level, we are making too many mistakes. The first goal is a gift; the second is unlucky. I think with chances, we had an advantage. I didn’t see OM as the better team,” said the Monaco manager in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

He added, “If we were lucky, we could have won […] we cannot be happy with the result, but I am satisfied with the performance.” Those comments largely mirrored those in the wake of the 3-2 defeat against Benfica on Wednesday. It is currently a question of fine margins for Monaco, who will look to bounce back against Toulouse FC next weekend.
