According to a report by L’Équipe, Maghnes Akliouche (22) has rejected an offer from Algeria to represent Les Fennecs, as the young AS Monaco forward is instead prioritising representing France.

Akliouche, born in France to Algerian parents, was approached recently by Les Fennecs, who were keen to secure his international allegiance. However, as it currently stands there is no debate, Akliouche wants to be a France international.

The forward was impressive last season helping Monaco secure a deserved second-place finish in the league and he has carried that form across the summer and into the new season. Akliouche was influential with the France Olympic team where he helped Les Bleuets reach the final and he was inspired during Monaco’s midweek Champions League opener against Barcelona.

Akliouche scored the opener to help Monaco record a 2-1 victory against the Catalans and was a constant threat down the right-hand side of the pitch.
