Monaco in discussions to extend Soungoutou Magassa’s contract
According to L’Équipe, AS Monaco are in discussions with the representatives of Soungoutou Magassa (21) to extend the midfielder’s contract.
In 2023, the 21-year-old signed a new 4-year contract with Les Monégasques. The French midfielder’s current contract at the Stade Louis II is set to expire in 2027. Since graduating to the first team, Magassa hasn’t always had the easiest ride at Monaco. However, this hasn’t deterred the principality club’s desire to keep the academy graduate on the Côte d’Azur.
Discussions over a new contract have been ongoing for some time, but it remains to be seen whether the parties are close to coming to an agreement on a new deal. Monaco head coach Adi Hütter is a big fan of the player and likely one of the driving forces behind the ongoing negotiations. Magassa was one of the crucial components of their 1-0 victory against Bologna in the Champions League which led to the German coach being complimentary of his midfielder. Hütter commenting on the Frenchman’s performance called him the “boss” of midfield against the Serie A club.
