With Edu on his way out, the sporting director role at Arsenal will become vacant. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro is being considered for the role.

Scuro arrived at Monaco from RB Bragantino at the start of last season. In collaboration with the outgoing Paul Mitchell, who recruited Scuro, he appointed Adi Hütter as manager, whilst also bringing in the likes of Denis Zakaria, Folarin Balogun, and Thilo Kehrer. His managerial choice, as well as the recruitment, are currently proving successful.

Monaco this season returned to the UEFA Champions League after a lengthy absence following a second-place finish in Ligue 1. This season, Les Monégasques are second in Ligue 1 and unbeaten in the Champions League with three wins in their first four games.

Scuro, who initially joined as sporting director before assuming the role of CEO amid an organisational reshuffle, is seen as a big part of the Principality club’s current success. Di Marzio now understands that the Brazilian’s name is in the frame for the sporting director role at Arsenal.

As per Foot Mercato, two former Arsenal players: Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker, are also in line for the position, soon to be vacated by Edu.
