MN: ‘This is day four’ – what Ibrahimovic’s ‘divine countdown’ is likely to mean

One of the most striking comments from today’s press conference to unveil Alvaro Morata was something Zlatan Ibrahimovic said which suggested that the summer business is far from done.

To be more specific, it was this line in particular that seemed to pique the interest of the fans on social media: “In the first press conference I said that God created the world in seven days: this is day four. We are very excited.” The implication is that Milan are only 4/7 of the way through their plans.

As MilanNews write, it is likely that Zlatan was talking about the appointment of the new head coach Paulo Fonseca, the signing of Alvaro Morata as the new striker, the addition of Strahinja Pavlovic at centre-back and also Emerson Royal’s imminent arrival at right-back.

What is missing? A defensive midfielder is needed, with Youssouf Fofana of Monaco the main name, but the message remains the same: “Let’s see, we are working. We are following the strategy that we had in mind from the beginning.”

To translate: Milan are not afraid to embark on long negotiations in order to reach an agreement at the figures that they themselves believe is the right price. Thus, Fofana – or an alternative target – could be the fifth day in ‘Ibra’s divine count’.

What about the other two days? It feels as though exits are a topic that will become important soon, to free spaces in the squad and generate funds, and then the last step could be seizing opportunities amid the links to Tammy Abraham and Lazar Samardzic.

The seventh day will not be a day of rest, however, because we are only at the beginning of the season and the hard work will then begin.
