MLB All-Star Game drip check: Ronald Acuña Jr. makes statement, Julio Rodríguez is breezy
MLB All-Star weekend was drippy from the start.
On Monday, Home Run Derby winner Vladimir Guerrero Jr. received a chic jacket and a monster diamond pendant — that spun — after claiming his victory.
That was just a drop in the bucket for what ensued Tuesday on the All-Star Game's red carpet. Ahead of the Midsummer Classic, which the National League won for the first time since 2012, some players showed out in expertly tailored suits and plenty of diamonds while others went for breezy and effortless.
Since the festivities were held in Seattle, there were many homages to Mariners Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr., who was a 13-time All-Star and the only player to ever win three Home Run Derby contests.
Here's the 2023 MLB All-Star Game drip check:
5. Mookie Betts — Los Angeles Dodgers
Mookie Betts began his All-Star weekend on a high note with these stellar cleats, a tribute to the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Freshwater sneakers with a Jordan 1 base.
The 2018 MVP then impressed on the red carpet with this monochromatic look that included a washed black and white jacket, black trousers and loafers. He accessorized it with just the right amount of jewelry, a tasteful layering of chains. Making his seventh All-Star appearance, Betts served an OG look that only he can.
4. Adley Rutschman — Baltimore Orioles
Adley Rutschman made his All-Star debut stepping outside of his comfort zone with a white silk suit that featured a detailed gold pattern. The 25-year-old fit right in with the look, designed by Tom Marchitelli of Gentleman's Playbook, who dubbed it "#GoldRutsch."
"I woulda probably chosen something super basic, but he was like, 'Hey, it's the red carpet. You gotta go with something that stands out,'" the catcher said of Marchitelli's guidance. "So this is what we came up with."
3. Julio Rodríguez — Seattle Mariners
All-Star weekend is a special time for every player, but there was extra hype around Julio Rodríguez as he played in front of his very own Mariners fans.
The second-year outfielder soaked in every moment and looked easy, breezy while doing it. Ahead of the main event, he wore a textured white short and pants set that screamed Midsummer Classic. The neckline perfectly framed his jewelry, which included black and white beads, a cool butterfly logo pendant and yes, pearls!

2. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. — Arizona Diamondbacks
For Lourdes Gurriel Jr., the All-Star Game was a family affair and they all showed out. The Diamondbacks star didn't bring diamonds — which would have been fitting for his team — but his look didn't need glitz to be head-turning nonetheless. He wore a colorful geometric ensemble and Gucci sneakers to match with his three sons. The design is a tribute to his nickname "La Piña," which he got because of his sprout of hair that looks like a pineapple.
“My wife came up with the idea,” first-time All-Star told MLB.com in Spanish. “We really love to embrace 'Piña Power' when we can, so this was a great opportunity to do so."
The way the kiddos are posing shows that he is teaching them well.

1. Ronald Acuña Jr. — Atlanta Braves
The All-Star Game is to show the world who you are and Ronald Acuña Jr. understood the assignment.
The Braves outfielder made his fourth Midsummer Classic appearance in style with a lavender silk suit that had a double strap feature across the lapel of the jacket to make it super saucy. Tom Marchitelli and his Gentleman's Playbook company are straight up winning.
That wasn't even the highlight of the look as the internet was ablaze after seeing Acuña Jr.'s chain, a miniature statue of himself doing the "Too Small" taunt. Too good.
